Isabellenhütte expands its ISA®-Nickel product family

New nickel‑copper alloys for extreme operating conditions

Industries such as marine engineering, chemical processing, power generation, and oil & gas extraction increasingly face the challenge of providing reliable materials for aggressive media, extreme temperatures, and long‑term stress. Conventional stainless steels and standard alloys frequently reach their limits here — especially in applications that require high corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and stable material properties simultaneously. With the expansion of its ISA®-NICKEL portfolio, known in the market as Monel®, Isabellenhütte now offers a solution tailored to these exact demands.

The new ISA®-NICKEL materials combine decades of metallurgical expertise with precisely controlled alloy designs. They feature a nickel content of at least 63 percent with defined copper additions and are characterized by exceptional resistance to seawater, acids, alkalis, and high temperatures. This makes them a reliable option for applications in which stainless steel or standard alloys reach their performance limits.

Three nickel‑copper alloys for different requirements

The ISA®-NICKEL family includes three alloy types that address different technical requirements and are optimized for the following properties:

As a classic nickel‑copper alloy, ISA®-NICKEL 400 provides high corrosion resistance and toughness across a wide temperature range. This alloy is optimized for components exposed to marine or chemically aggressive environments over long periods and is suitable for applications such as pump and propeller shafts, seawater valves, as well as heat exchangers and components in the petrochemical industry where toughness and stability are critical.

These properties are complemented by the ISA®-NICKEL 405 alloy. Due to an adjusted sulfur content, it offers improved machinability. Corrosion resistance remains largely preserved, making the material ideal for turned and milled components.

ISA®-NICKEL K500 combines the corrosion resistance of ISA®-NICKEL 400 with significantly increased strength and hardness thanks to precipitation‑hardening elements. Additions of aluminum and titanium create a material for highly mechanically stressed components that simultaneously require high strength and corrosion resistance.

The ISA®-NICKEL alloys are manufactured at the Dillenburg site under strict quality and monitoring standards. They are available in various product forms—including wire, strip, rod, and customer‑specific semifinished products. With the expansion of the ISA®-NICKEL portfolio, Isabellenhütte strengthens its position as a reliable partner for demanding industrial material solutions and responds to the growing demand for durable, corrosion‑resistant, and high‑performance specialty alloys.
