Isabellenhütte Qualifies Flexible Heater for Space Applications According to ESCC 4009/006
With the successful qualification of a flexible heater in accordance with ESCC Detail Specification 4009/006, Isabellenhütte expands its portfolio for demanding space applications. The new solution supports satellites, launch vehicles, and rover systems by reliably maintaining critical components within their required operating temperature range.
Thermal Control as a Key Factor for Mission Success
Extreme temperature fluctuations are among the greatest challenges in space. Batteries, propulsion systems, valves, and optical instruments must continue to operate reliably during extended eclipse periods and under conditions of limited solar radiation. Flexible heaters play a vital role in ensuring mission success by preventing critical systems from becoming too cold and maintaining the functionality of essential components.
The heater is based on an etched MANGANIN® foil laminated between polyimide films (Kapton®). Thanks to its high flexibility and customizable design, it is ideally suited for integration into satellites, launch vehicles, and rover systems. Typical applications include thermal management of batteries, propellant lines, valves, as well as sensitive optical and electronic equipment.
With the successful ESCC qualification, Isabellenhütte also contributes to strengthening the European supply chain for space components by providing customers with an additional qualified source for flexible heater solutions.
